Joshua jabari Bedeau

Affiliated Steelband: Golden Hands

Joshua-Labari-Bedeau-PIBXII16-year old Joshua jabari Bedeau has been a member of Golden Hands since the age of five (5). He has performed internationally with Golden Hands on numerous occasions. One of his most outstanding performances was as a tenor in the Golden Hands/U.W.l steelpan musical, The Rainmakers, which was performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Austin. Texas. 2008.

Joshua is currently the National Under 15 champion of the 2013 Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival and was also a member of the Golden Hands Steel Orchestra Championship Ensemble for Trinidad & Tobago Music Festival in the categories of Under 15,16-19 &
Open Categories (2006, 2008, 2012). Between the ages often (10) and twelve, Joshua emerged as the three-time champion of the Republic Bank music Festival.

This gifted young musician is also very skilled in the performance of a variety of other percussion instruments, including drumkit and African drums. In fact he is the percussionist of the elite pan ensemble FRONTHOUSE and also plays the drum kit for Golden Hands. He has performed, in this capacity, with the band at many events, such as the QRC Steelpan Jazz Festival. Joshua is continually honing his craft as a percussionist and has attended several workshops in this area including a UTT Course with Tony Mason Drum Master Class (2010) &The Daniel Phillip Drum Kit Workshop (2012).
Joshua is a serious music student and is currently preparing for The University of The West Indies Grade 8 Steelpan Solo Performance Examination. In addition he is studying music for the Caribbean Secondary Examinations. He has been a participant in the annual BPTT Pan In Schools Coordinating Counsel Workshops-Composition & Drumming (2010)

As a solo performer he graces many events such as church conferences and numerous charity concerts and has performed for the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.

He functions as an executive member of Golden Hands and is involved as a tutor of young upcoming pannists. Because of his gift of perfect pitch he functions as Golden Hands Assistant Drill Master in its Panorama preparations.
